If computer companies made doors

[comes from a conversation about technology in the future]

If Apple made a door, they would call it the iDoor. It would come in either all white or brushed metal. There would be no doorknob and it would open automatically when you walked towards it. They would market it as a novel new door that opens automatically and would file a trademark for the no-doorknob design. All iDoors would lead only to Apple stores.

If Microsoft made a door, it would contain several windows. When you tried going through, it would ask you, “Are you sure you want to go through this door? OK or Cancel”. The door would sometimes stop responding, prevent all other doors from operating, and it would not close until you forced it to close. Of course, you could always use a back door to get in.

If Linux made a door, it would ask you for the root password.

If Google made a door, there would be no door. It would be an open frame inviting anyone to come in (none of that hardware mess). Ten years later it would still be in Beta.
